Melissa earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Community and Agency Counseling in 2005 and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Texas at San Antonio, with graduation anticipated in August 2026. She is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) and plans to obtain licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) following completion of her degree.
A retired U.S. Air Force veteran, Melissa served in both enlisted and officer roles, bringing more than two decades of leadership, service, and dedication to her clinical practice. She approaches her work through a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens, honoring each client’s lived experiences and inherent resilience.
Melissa’s clinical interests include trauma and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, and addiction/substance use disorders. She has a particular passion for supporting veterans, first responders, and their families. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other evidence-based modalities as appropriate to the client’s needs.
